During my tenure with View Hotels ahs housekeeping was engaged to provide room attendants, public area attendants, supervision and housekeeping management to our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane hotels under a long standing arrangement. In fact our Melbourne hotel had been a client of ahs for 20+ years, which is extremely unusual in this industry. I quickly came to the realisation that the strength of the relationship was driven at three levels. Firstly, each hotel had an experienced executive housekeeper who knew their respective hotels top to bottom. Secondly, the room attendants who are tasked with one of the toughest jobs in this business were dedicated, thorough and consistent in their work. And finally, the ahs regional support team actively engaged with each hotel GM and collaborated on new projects and initiatives to the benefit of both parties. As you could imagine the Atura Adelaide has not been immune to the fallout from the Covid-19 and in one way or another every staff member has been significantly impacted. As we moved deeper into the crisis, we knew it was essential to maintain the hotels fantastic reputation, which would not only help us to weather the storm but also place us strongly for a rapid recovery. I’m pleased to say that not only did we maintain our reputation but we also picked up some significant pieces of business that allowed the hotel to outperform the comp set by a significant margin. It has been a very trying few months at ibis Adelaide. Reduced occupancies and significantly reduced manning levels have seen us really work as a team to ensure the our guests needs are met.

This was reinforced time and time again over the last few months. When we needed assistance running food up to guests rooms, were dealing with particularly emotional and tense guests and the amazing relationships the Housekeeping Team developed with some of our longer term guests. They all know who Heidi is and look forward to when she personally services their rooms.
Heidi, Bryan and Peter have been a source of companionship in a very quiet hotel as well as valued team members, quickly pulling resources, whilst we manage the often short term business demands & pick up. I am fortunate to say this crisis has bought out the best in my team.
